InterraScan is a service offered by Syngenta to enable farmers to act more sustainably. It is a soil scan of plots, with the aim of carrying out more targeted, site-specific fertilisation, liming and crop protection. Via a link, the farmer accesses his soil maps (texture, pH, water holding capacity, organic matter, P, K, Mg, micro-elements (Mn, S, Mo, Ca, Fe,...), this at 800 points per hectare. Based on this knowledge, growers are helped to make task maps to 1. Homogenise plot and 2. Maximise potential of plot.
Added value for the user (in commercial terms, user-friendliness ...)
Soil is the basis for the production of our food. With proper knowledge of this soil, the farmer is able to provide site-specific inputs for fertilisation, liming and crop protection. Good for his wallet, the image of agriculture and also for the environment.
Added value for the further sustainability and professionalization of the potato sector.
Added value is manifested by :
a. Knowledge-based input = right dose in the right place
b. Optimisation of the yield potential of his plot. 2 concrete examples : 1 : planting density based on water holding capacity, gives better size grading and thus more saleable potatoes and 2. Application of K, for better quality and less input.
