The square size sorter is designed to determine the square size of a potato and sort out a particular size. The square measure is used to assess the size and shape of a potato.

The dimensions of the potato are collected as it passes under a 3D camera. With this information, top or bottom sizes of potatoes can be separated from the main stream. The grader is equipped with 2 conveyors, 1 for the main stream and 1 for the size to be sorted out. A food-safe plastic “finger” is used to force the size to be sorted out to the correct belt.

Determining square size with a 3D camera has been an option in our tare lines for some time. The novelty of this machine is that we have combined this technique more an ejector sorter. This is equipped with food-safe plastic “fingers” which can separate the size selected by the user from the main stream.
